3rd Watseka Rabbit is Adopted

We knew Ava, with her velvety fur and beautiful blue eyes, wouldn't last long at Red Door. And we were right. Ava will be going to her new home this week. A former Watseka rescue rabbit, Ava is a little doll--and the last of the Watseka rescues at the shelter.

Bailey's Back -- Looking for a Home

Bailey, the friendly beagle, is back at Red Door--through no fault of his own. This sweet guy would love a home. He is friendly, house-trained, good with kids. He can get along with other dogs, but probably would be happiest being either the only dog or the first dog of the household. Please let your friends know that Bailey is looking for a special someone.

In Memory of Mama Sue

Mama Sue was a long-time resident of Red Door. She died tonight at Animal 911 of complications from cancer. We will miss her sweet face.

No Wonder Donnie Looks Happy

He just got adopted! We're thrilled we could help Donnie--he came to Red Door after he was scheduled for euthansia at a traditional shelter. Donnie wasn't with us long--his winning personality won him a new home.

2nd Watseka Rabbit Goes Home!

Sienna didn't have to cool her heels at Red Door for long. Soon after being transferred in from South Suburban Humane Shelter, this rabbit--formerly one of the Watseka rescues--was adopted into a loving home. We love a hoppy ending.

Not Your Average Bunny Slipper

Say hello to Ziggy, the newest rabbit to arrive at Red Door. Ziggy is an Angora rabbit (often mistaken for bunny slippers!). He is very sweet and loves to be brushed--which is a good thing.

Agile Dogs--or not--at Walk

Dogs had fun showing off their agility skills - or just doggone goofing around - at Red Door's walk on June 3rd. Thanks to DOG Obedience Group (www.dogobediencegroup.com) and Wendy DeCarlo-Young for loaning us the equipment. DOG Obedience Group was a sponsor of Red Door's Gimme Shelter! Walk.

A Very Cool Time Was Had By All

The humidity might have been high last Sunday, for Red Door's 7th Annual Gimme Shelter! Walk for the Animals, but a very cool time was had by all. The rain held off so Danielle DeCamp from Bally's could warm up the 200 walkers & over 100 dogs. After the walk through historic Indian Boundary Park and the West Ridge neighborhood, it was time to Bob for Bones in the dog swimming pool. Humans enjoyed a great breakfast spread and chair massages; dogs loved their treat bags from The Hungry Pup. There was a tarot card reader, an animal communicator, and a healing aura therapy person. And Zeus & Company passed out dog treats.

Thanks for making this Gimme Shelter! the biggest, most successful one ever.
